CALCULATORS
Cycling calculators with the formula in the open
Three calculators for looking after a bike. They run in your browser: there is no account, and what you type goes nowhere.
Each page shows the formula, where it comes from and how far it goes, with examples you can check by hand.
Tire pressure
Work out your bike tire pressure from your weight and tire width, front and rear, in psi and bar. Berto's 15% drop method, with the formula and its limits shown.
Gears
Work out each gear's ratio, development in metres, gear inches and speed at your cadence. With the formula in the open and a chart for 50/34 and an 11-34 cassette.
Chain length
Work out the links your chain needs from the chainstay, largest chainring and largest cog. Formula in the open, rounding to even, and how to check before you cut.
